'Unique' purchase sees Kāinga Ora buy $20m, 27-unit property in north Hamilton

A $20m block of northeast Hamilton homes will become public housing, with the first tenants moving in over the next couple of months.

Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is in the final stages of purchasing the new build at 45 Borman Road, Huntington, comprising 20 three-bedroom homes and seven two-bedroom homes.

It’s the biggest sale the real estate concerned has ever made, taking months to come together, and Kāinga Ora says the move will help get families out of unstable living conditions.

$23m central Queenstown hotel development site for sale

A $23 million central-Queenstown development site, which has consent for one of the highest buildings in town, is up for sale.

Developer Graham Wilkinson was granted permission to build a 393-room, seven-storey hotel complex on the Brecon St site in 2019.

It was to include four buildings and 12 ground floor commercial tenancies.

More new homes possible for Northland through Whangārei infrastructure investment

Key transport upgrades in Whangārei will be supported by $10.3 million from the Government’s Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF) – unlocking more land for new homes, Prime Minister Chris Hipkins and Housing Minister Megan Woods announced today.

This investment in critical infrastructure is expected to open up approximately 160 hectares of greenfield land for residential development, to support increased housing supply and future growth in the city.

Administered by Kāinga Ora, the IAF is a fund of approximately $1 billion to support new or upgraded bulk infrastructure – such as roading, three waters and flood management – to enable new homes to be built in regions throughout the country. Councils, iwi and developers were invited to apply.
