KiwiBuild: Opportunity for developers launched
Tender documents for the KiwiBuild ‘Buying off the Plans’ initiative – whereby the Government will underwrite or purchase new homes the private sector and others are developing – have been released today, Housing and Urban Development Minister Phil Twyford says.
“This initiative will help us develop more affordable homes for New Zealanders, sooner.
“There’s an obvious need for us to take urgent action to address the national housing crisis which is what this initiative is designed to do. It will operate alongside our work to fundamentally shift the housing market and help restore the Kiwi dream of home ownership by expanding the supply of affordable homes.
Homes for Rotokauri: fast-track housing proposal clears another hurdle
A new subdivision could bring 1800 homes to northwest Hamilton, but the city will have to grow out to them.
Rotokauri was one of three fast-track housing areas - representing about 2000 homes - which Hamilton city councillors put through to the next stage last week.
All three special housing area proposals will go to central government for approval, and their developers must sign further agreements with council.
The Kumeū-Huapai Centre Plan is now online and printed copies are available at Kumeū Library and Huapai Service Centre.
The Kumeū-Huapai community’s involvement has been fundamental to the plan’s creation and development. Adopted last year by Rodney Local Board, the plan will influence how the town centre evolves now and in the long-term.
